PEACHES N CREAM SMOOTHIE
Peaches have been hitting the stores, and I am loving it! I have memories of going to pick fresh peaches growing up. Peaches for DAYS — ahhhh the smell and taste of a fresh, ripe peach! I used to pick more peaches you can imagine with my mom, and we would eat more fresh peaches than you can imagine. I can imagine the countertops and tables with the peaches covering them in our home -- letting them ripen to their full extent - after picking them!
I also heard recently that the farmers markets where we live may be a GO this summer! Crossing my fingers. In the meantime, I’m picking up peaches at our fav co-op. And I made a yummy treat for the kids and I today - a peaches n cream smoothie:
1 large ripe (pitted) peach
1 ripe (or over ripe!) banana
1/4 cup coconut cream
3/4 cup almond milk
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp camu powder
splash of vanilla
I used canned organic coconut cream. You could also just use coconut milk and use more if it and not need the almond milk. The coconut cream is what makes this so creamy and DELISH. Oh -- and add ice if you like it cold!
Speaking of almond milk— I did a quick tutorial that is in my STORIES today for how we make ours! If you want $10 off an Almond Cow, send me a message. We use nut milk in smoothies, lattes, etc.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF THIS BEVY:
Peaches are high in antioxidants and vitamins. One study showed that the juice from fresh peaches demonstrated antioxidant activity in healthy men within 30 minutes of consumption.
Peaches may aid in digestion through fiber (I kept the skin on when making my smoothie!). Test tube studies also show that compounds in peaches may improve our skins ability to retain moisture — improving skin texture.
I add CAMU powder because a small serving of camu provides a robust amount of vitamin C! It’s slightly tart but blends in well and goes unnoticed. I also add TURMERIC to our smoothies whenever I can. Antioxidant + anti-inflammatory effects galore. I actually added a dropperful of @leefyorganics, too!
I topped ours with my homemade pumpkin pistachio granola and a spoonful of straight coco cream. Perfection. I love a little crunch with my smoothies.
Recipe is up on the blog for easier locating (link in bio). It’s feeling like summer friends.
